I need a patient English speaker to play Minecraft with my children and help them practice speaking English.
Near-native English is fine. Applicants from the Philippines or similar price ranges are welcome.
This is not a formal English class. The goal is natural conversation while playing.
About the children:
- Younger child: 6 years old, boy, complete beginner, no English yet
- Older child: 10 years old, girl, knows a little English
- The main student is the 6-year-old
- Sometimes the 10-year-old sister will join the same game and play together
- Both need a kind, encouraging adult
- Speak very simply when the little brother is playing
- When the sister joins, you can use slightly longer sentences with her, but still keep everything child-friendly
What you will do:
- Play Minecraft together in a private world
- Guide simple activities: exploring, building, gathering, small challenges
- Speak English clearly and slowly
- Encourage the children to say simple phrases like “Let’s go,” “I want this,” “Can you help me?”, and names of items, colors, and actions
- Give the 6-year-old extra time and repeat words often
- Keep the session fun and child-friendly
Very important:
- Clean language only
- No swear words
- No rude slang
- No adult topics
- No shouting or harsh tone
Game details:
- Children play on tablet (iPad or Android)
- Must use Minecraft Bedrock Edition
- Java Edition is not compatible
- Private world only, no public servers
- Voice chat on Discord or Zoom
Session details:
- 30–40 minutes per session
- 3–5 times per week if the first session goes well
- Parent may listen during sessions
Payment:
- $5 USD per hour
- Pay after each completed session
- First session is paid
- If it goes well, we continue regularly
