I’m building a personal-use platform that helps users discover and connect with people who truly share their interests. The core of the product is a smart matching system that pairs members according to three criteria—interests & hobbies, location, and career background—so profiles need fields for each and a lightweight algorithm to surface the closest matches.
Once two users match, they must be able to speak instantly through real-time chat or, when they prefer, hop on a built-in video call. For chat, I’m happy with common solutions such as Firebase or Socket.io as long as delivery is reliable and messages stay synced across devices. Video can run on WebRTC or another secure SDK you’re comfortable with; the key is crisp audio, stable video, and no extra installs for end users.
I’ll provide wireframes of the main screens—onboarding, profile setup, match feed, chat, and call window—so you can focus on the actual build rather than UI concepts. A clean, modern front end (React Native or Flutter would be great for cross-platform) tied to a scalable back end (Node, Django, or your preferred stack) is what I have in mind, but I’m open to alternatives if you can explain the benefits.
Deliverables
• Fully functional mobile app (iOS and Android) or responsive web app with the features above
• Source code in a private repo and clear setup instructions
• Brief technical document outlining architecture, third-party services, and how matching logic works
• One round of post-launch tweaks to iron out early feedback
Acceptance criteria: users can sign up, edit profiles, receive match suggestions that respect all three criteria, exchange real-time messages, and initiate video calls that remain stable for at least ten minutes.
If you have experience launching social or matchmaking apps, especially with live chat and video, I’d love to see a couple of examples.
