I am looking for an experienced knitwear designer with strong engineered jacquard / full-garment placement experience to develop production-ready artwork for a fitted halter maxi dress.
The garment design, colour direction and silhouette are already approved. The dress features a full trompe-l’œil jacquard effect using four Pantone colours, including:
* chevron paneling
* faux seams
* faux pockets
* tonal denim-effect sections
* lighter faux-topstitch details
* front, back and halter strap artwork
The final UK 12–14 pattern pieces will be supplied.
The designer will be responsible for:
* recreating and refining the approved artwork as closely as possible
* mapping the artwork accurately onto the supplied 1:1 front, back and strap pattern pieces
* maintaining symmetry and correct placement through the bust, waist, hips and hem
* preparing clearly separated Pantone colour layers
* considering side-seam alignment and continuity
* providing editable, factory-facing vector files suitable for handoff to an industrial jacquard knit factory
* advising on yarn, gauge, jacquard structure or stitch-programming considerations where relevant to their experience
The factory will handle final machine programming, swatching and physical sample production.
Required experience:
* machine-knit jacquard design
* engineered or placed jacquard artwork
* Illustrator or equivalent vector software
* working with garment pattern pieces
* factory-facing knitwear artwork / technical files
Experience with STOLL, SHIMA SEIKI, fully fashioned knitwear or industrial jacquard production is highly preferred.
Please include:
* examples of relevant jacquard or engineered knitwear work
* examples of full-garment placement if available
* what files you would deliver
* your estimated hours for this project
* your hourly rate
* your availability
