Project overview
The Data Entry/Billing Clerk performs data entry, payment posting, verify financial and payer information, as well as, patient demographics and test codes, also research rejections, identify documentation errors and coordinating the correction. Essential Functions: Identify documentation errors and coordinate the correction, as appropriate. Review all work for validity of data entered Correct all errors immediately after ordering tests Enter patient demographics, diagnostic and test codes Follow-up on claim status Research rejections, identify documentation errors and coordinate the correction Gather and submit documentation for timely appeals. Requirements: High School diploma required, Associates Degree or some college level coursework preferred Must possess a minimum of one year of data entry experience Medical billing experience a plus Diagnostic laboratory data entry experience is a plus Some knowledge of payers and medical insurance terminology for billing lines, including but not limited to, Managed Care, Medicare, Medical Assistance and Self-Pay preferred A must - proficient in use of computers and keyboarding, including prior, proven experience with medical billing software, Excel and Word. Ability to work quickly and accurately within time constraints. Able to type a minimum of 50 wpm accurately Demonstrate flexibility to accommodate rapidly changing needs of a growing organization.
