The Military DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners in real-world job experiences under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Separating Service members can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty to focus solely on training full-time with approved industry partners after unit commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) provides written authorization and approval. GE Aerospace as a Skill Bridge partner offers real-world training and work experience in in-demand fields of work while having the opportunity to evaluate the Service member’s suitability for the work. Military DoD SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from GE Aerospace, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members.Job Description

The Logistics Material Planning and Fulfillment Specialist is responsible for owning material availability and execution to support business operating rhythms, production plans, and customer commitments. This role partners across sourcing, manufacturing, logistics, quality, and suppliers to ensure material flow supports Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost objectives. The position requires strong analytical capability, daily problem solving, and disciplined execution to manage shortages, optimize inventory, and improve fulfillment performance.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Own material planning and fulfillment execution for assigned parts, commodities, programs, or value streams
Convert demand signals, forecasts, and production schedules into executable material plans
Monitor material availability, past due orders, shortages, and fulfillment risks; drive recovery actions to protect output and customer delivery
Partner with sourcing and suppliers to improve delivery performance, expedite critical material, and resolve supply constraints
Maintain planning parameters including lead times, reorder points, safety stock, lot sizing, and order policies as needed
Execute within ERP/MRP systems to ensure accurate material signals, order actions, and inventory visibility
Lead daily management of material issues through visual management, action tracking, and escalation
Support inventory optimization by balancing service, working capital, and production needs
Identify and drive continuous improvement actions to improve material flow, reduce shortages, and strengthen plan attainment
Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, production control, logistics, engineering, quality, and sourcing teams
Communicate risks, assumptions, and recovery plans clearly to stakeholders and leadership
Ensure compliance with standard work, internal controls, and business operating processes
Required Qualifications
Active Military personnel on their last 180 days of Military service
Experience in material planning, supply chain, production control, fulfillment, manufacturing, or operations
Experience working with ERP/MRP systems and planning data
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
Excel and data analysis capability
Knowledge of inventory management, replenishment planning, and supplier performance management
Experience with lean principles, daily management, and continuous improvement
Experience managing shortages, past due orders, and recovery plans
Desired Characteristics
Strong ownership and accountability
Customer-focused mindset with urgency and follow-through
Effective communicator with ability to influence across teams
Detail-oriented with strong organizational discipline
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing demands
