I am ready to move our roommate-matching and property search platform into Milestone 3 and need a developer who can tighten security around user onboarding while refreshing the landing experience.
What I need you to build
• Replace the current homepage carousel with a live feed that pulls the most recent sign-ups. Featured users must display blurred profile photos to protect privacy.
• Make both email and phone confirmation mandatory before a sign-up is considered complete.
– Repair the existing email flow so the verification link consistently activates.
– Add phone verification using either the WhatsApp Business API or standard SMS, whichever you can implement fastest.
• Show a small “verified” check-mark on the profile as soon as the email address is confirmed, but keep the account inactive until both checks (email + phone) pass.
• Block all unverified or partially verified accounts from accessing roommate matching or property search pages.
• When a user clicks “Contact via WhatsApp” from a listing page, automatically append the exact property link to the pre-filled message.
Acceptance criteria
1. Landing page feed updates in real time with no manual refresh and maintains blurred avatars.
2. A user cannot proceed past onboarding or use core features unless both verification steps succeed.
3. Verification emails arrive instantly and activate accounts on first click; phone verification completes inside one minute.
4. The green check-mark appears only after successful email confirmation.
5. WhatsApp messages always include the correct listing URL.
Tech stack
The platform is built on Next.js, Neon (postgresql), Drizzle ORM, NextAuth v4 with JW Sessions, Resend, MCP Server for listings, hosted on Railway, Repo on Github; please leverage Twilio, Meta-approved WhatsApp Business API, or an equivalent SMS gateway for phone checks.
Security is the driving goal, so clean code, clear audit trails, and adherence to best practices are essential. If you’ve shipped similar flows before, I’d like to see a brief example or repo link with your bid.
