I want to automate the filling of an overhead storage tank with a compact microcontroller-based solution. The unit should sense the water level in the tank, trigger the pump when the level drops below a defined threshold, and shut the pump off once the tank is full. I am using a standard overhead tank fed by a single pump from ground level.
You’re free to recommend the most reliable sensing method—, or conductive—so long as it performs accurately in typical domestic water conditions and can be serviced easily if something fails. The design must include:
• A microcontroller (Arduino, ESP32, or comparable) with clearly commented firmware.
• A driver stage capable of switching a 1 HP single-phase pump safely.
• Manual override for both pump ON and OFF.
• Visual indicators (LED or LCD) showing at least Empty, Half, and Full states.
• Basic fault handling—for example, pump timeout if the tank fails to fill.
I would like the complete package: schematic, BOM with component part numbers, source code, and a brief step-by-step setup guide so I can replicate or service the unit later. When you reply, mention any prior work with overhead-tank systems and which sensor technology you’d start with.
