I need a polished front-end that lets users upload a PDF, see it immediately in an embedded viewer, then highlight text, drop comments in real time, and watch each other’s notes appear without a page refresh. Authentication should be the classic email-and-password flow, nothing more complicated.
Here is how I picture the flow: a clean drag-and-drop zone brings the file in, the document renders page-by-page, and a lightweight toolbar offers pan/zoom, text selection, colour-coded highlights, and threaded comment bubbles. While one user types, everyone else connected to that document sees the markers appear instantly—so WebSocket/WebRTC or another live-sync mechanism will be essential behind the scenes, but your focus is strictly the client side.
Deliverables
• Responsive single-page interface built with a modern framework (React, Vue or similar)
• PDF viewer component integrated with highlight and free-text annotation layers
• Real-time commenting panel synced across sessions
• Email-and-password sign-in / sign-up screens wired to placeholder API endpoints (I’ll supply the backend)
• Clear build/run instructions plus a short walk-through video or GIF demonstrating the core interactions
Acceptance criteria
1. Upload a PDF under 10 MB and see it rendered within three seconds on a typical broadband connection.
2. Add a highlight or comment; it must appear on a second browser window within one second.
3. Refresh the page and confirm all annotations reload accurately.
4. UI passes basic accessibility checks (contrast, keyboard nav, ARIA labels).
If this matches your skill set and you can keep the interface lightweight, let’s get started.
