Façade / Structural Glazing Engineer
Architectural Glass, Curtain Wall & Modular Façade Interface Development
Project Overview
STEEL ONE is developing transparent and opaque façade options that attach to a standardized structural cage. We are seeking a façade engineer
with structural glazing/curtain-wall experience to develop a safe, drained, thermally isolated and replaceable glass interface.
Primary Responsibilities
• Develop glazing support and attachment concepts for STEEL ONE modules.
• Advise on insulated, laminated, tempered/heat-strengthened and low-iron glass configurations.
• Evaluate wind pressure, glass edge support, deflection and movement requirements.
• Develop gasket, structural silicone, pressure-plate or mechanical-retention concepts as appropriate.
• Design for drainage, pressure equalization, weather sealing and replacement.
• Coordinate thermal breaks between glazing frame and structural steel cage.
• Help define a universal façade attachment interface that can support multiple skin materials.
Required Qualifications
• Professional experience in curtain wall, structural glazing or architectural façade engineering.
• Knowledge of IGUs, laminated safety glass, heat-treated glass, sealants and glazing gaskets.
• Understanding of wind loading, thermal movement, water penetration and façade deflection.
• Ability to produce engineering details and coordinate with structural/product engineers.
Preferred Experience
• Show completed curtain-wall or glazing projects and state your exact role.
• Identify your experience with IGUs, laminated glass and structural silicone/mechanical retention.
• State the software and analysis tools you use.
• Briefly explain how you would design a replaceable glass panel on a modular steel structural cage.
• Provide hourly rate or Phase 1 fixed-fee proposal.
Initial Deliverables
• Unitized curtain-wall design.
• Custom curved/slumped glass systems.
• Testing experience for air, water and structural performance.
When Applying
• Preliminary glazing-system section details.
• Recommended glass and frame concepts for prototype testing.
• Interface requirements between glass system and cage.
• Drainage/weather-seal strategy.
• Preliminary façade test plan.
Confidentiality: STEEL ONE is proprietary and patent-pending technology. Initial discussions should remain non-confidential. Detailed geometry,
connection concepts, engineering information and manufacturing details should be shared only after an NDA/IP agreement is in place.
Engagement structure: Milestone-based. The first phase should focus on review, technical critique and a clearly defined development plan before
deeper engineering work begins.
