Business Central Workflow Optimisation Guidance

We have just moved our UK manufacturing operation from Microsoft NAV to Business Central and, while the technical migration went smoothly, we are not yet exploiting the new functionality it offers. Our goal is to replace the patchwork of NAV customisations and spreadsheets with clean, native BC processes so every department—sales, production and accounting—can work from one reliable source of truth.
I’m looking for a consultant who can walk us through each workflow in turn, show us how the standard features should be configured, and then coach our team until the new routine feels natural. The immediate priority is system efficiency, specifically streamlining workflows: cutting out duplicate entry, tightening hand-offs between departments and removing unnecessary bespoke code wherever the base product can cope.
Here’s how I see the engagement unfolding:
• Start with a discovery session to map our current process and pinpoint friction points.
• Configure Business Central accordingly, making sure we stay within standard functionality whenever possible.
• Produce concise documentation and quick-reference guides for staff.
• Train key users and stay on call during the first live runs.
• Hand over an improvement log so we can tackle the next workflow together.
Success will be measured by a noticeable reduction in manual steps, faster transaction turnaround and clear user adoption across all three departments.
If you have a strong functional grasp of Business Central, understand manufacturing flows and enjoy turning complexity into simple, repeatable processes, I’d love to hear how you would approach this first phase.
