Android Family Locator App Development

I need an Android-only Family Locator that pins each linked account on a live map and lets relatives see one another’s movements in real time. The flow starts with a simple email-and-password sign-up; credentials must be stored securely and sessions handled with token-based authentication.

Once signed in, every user should:

• see continuously updated positions of all approved family members (smooth map refresh, minimal battery impact)
• have a prominent SOS button that, when pressed, pushes the sender’s exact coordinates and a short custom message to every other account, even if the app is in the background

Push notifications can ride on Firebase Cloud Messaging or a comparable service, and you’re free to pick the mapping SDK you’re most comfortable with (Google Maps, Mapbox, etc.) as long as it supports background location updates compliant with current Play Store policies.

Deliverables
• Production-ready APK plus source code (Kotlin or Java, clean and well commented)
• Brief setup guide covering build steps, API keys, and publishing checklist
• Demo video or TestFlight-style walkthrough proving real-time tracking and SOS alert work on two physical devices

I’ll test the build on a range of Android 10–14 phones; acceptance is complete when location updates stay accurate under weak signal and the SOS reach-out fires instantly every time.
