Project overview

JOB DESCRIPTION We are a fast growing team that aims to change the 3D animation and games industry by pioneering collaboration and AI directly into the 3D workflow. Job Title: Senior 3D Engineer (JS / Three.js / Babylon.js) Job Location: Anywhere (100% Remote) General Description: This role will involve improving PixCap’s (web-based) 3D editor and implementing new capabilities for 3D animation. A solid understanding of 3D graphics and animation software (e.g. Maya and Blender) is required, as well as knowledge of Babylon.js / Three.js / WebGL. Responsibilities: - Design and architect 3D web software for character and general animation - Develop features such as animation curves, auto-rigging, mesh morphing, retargeting and IK in Javascript or Python REQUIREMENT Knowledge Requirements: - Javascript/Typescript experience (3+years) with Vue.js/React (or similar frontend frameworks) - Strong Experience (3+ years) with WebGL/Three.js/Babylon.js/Shaders or any other 3d graphics library. Optional experience: - Experience with Computer Graphics (Shaders/GLSL, IK, physics etc.) in other programming languages - Experience rigging and animating 3D characters - Experience working with Maya/Blender/Unity APIs - Experience developing any of: retargeting, graph editor, modelling tools, inverse kinematics BENEFITS Remuneration: US$4-$6K per month Equity options package About PixCap Motivation 3D animation remains beyond the scope of most internet users today. Existing software takes months to learn, offers little to no collaboration, and priced at $1500+ a year. Open source alternatives like Blender have not fared better beyond price. A great analogy is Canva and Graphic Design. 7-8 years ago (before Canva was introduced), Graphic Design was limited to professionals who knew Photoshop. Canva now has close to 20 million monthly active users, all by making things simple for users to create designs. We see a lot of parallels with the state of 3D animation today. Mission Our ultimate goal is to make 3D animation much simpler and accessible than its current state. To date, we have built the first 3D animation software on the web browser with animation curves, inverse kinematics and 3D human pose estimation ("AI Motion Capture"). Our goal is to leverage the cloud to allow users to work collaboratively on 3D animation for the first time possible. Our premise is similar to Figma's - the web browser will eventually be the default platform for collaborative 3D (just like Google Docs)! Current Team We are a diverse team from 6 different nationalities! ● CJ - Co-founder, Previously Head of Deep Learning and Computer Vision at Dorabot ● Cyril - Co-founder, CS @ UCL ● Evgeny - Contributor of WebGL Insight book, 8+ years experience in WebGL and 3D graphics ● Nune - UX/UI designer, 4+ years as a 3D animator, 3+ years in UI/UX design ● Zoe - Frontend Engineer Advisors ● Michael Gryseels - Strategic Advisor, former MD of McKinsey Singapore and President of True Digital Group ● Shaun Johnston - Animation Advisor, founder of TheCGBros, 3.5+ million subscribers on Youtube Funded by ● Cocoon Capital - Seed Investor in Singapore ● Entrepreneur First - Pre-seed Investor, backed by Peter Thiel, Reid Hoffman and Greylock INTERVIEW PROCESS 2 - 3 rounds
