Our church has just been officially registered in Hungary and now needs its first full year of books kept accurately and in line with local regulations. Activity is light—fewer than 50 transactions a month—so the task centers on orderly record-keeping rather than high-volume processing.
All entries are currently noted manually in Excel and on paper. That system works for us, yet guidance on moving to a simple digital workflow is welcome as long as it stays affordable and remains compliant with Hungarian accounting standards.
Scope of work
• Maintain the general ledger throughout the year, based on invoices, bank statements, and receipts I will provide monthly.
• Reconcile bank and cash positions at month-end.
• Prepare the year-end financial statements and any statutory summaries required for churches operating in Hungary.
• Keep all documentation audit-ready and organized in cloud folders we share.
Acceptance criteria
• Ledger balances agree with bank statements to the last forint.
• Year-end package meets the submission requirements of Hungarian authorities and is delivered on time.
• Clear hand-over notes so the next fiscal year can start smoothly.
Because we are a small non-profit, responsiveness and clarity are just as valuable to us as technical accuracy.
Preference: Freelancer must be based in Hungary to ensure easier compliance with local accounting regulations.
