# Project Brief: Automatic Fare Calculator for Wix Website

## What we need
A simple, automatic fare calculator embedded on our Wix website. Customer flow:

**Pickup → Destination → Vehicle → Fare → Book**

1. Customer enters a pickup address (A) and destination address (B). Please use Google Places Autocomplete on both fields so addresses are valid and easy to enter.
2. Customer selects a vehicle from a dropdown: **Haval** or **Mercedes Vito Premium**.
3. On submit, the system calculates the **actual driving distance (km) and driving time (minutes)** between A and B — not straight-line distance. Use Google's Routes API (the current API; the older "Distance Matrix API" is now Legacy).
4. The system calculates the fare using the formula below and displays it to the customer.
5. Customer clicks "Book" to proceed to our booking step (details to be confirmed with developer — can be a simple enquiry/booking form for now).

## Fare formula

`Total fare = Base fare + (distance in km × per-km rate) + (time in minutes × per-minute rate)`

**Haval**
- Base fare: $10
- Distance rate: $3.50/km
- Time rate: $0.50/min
- **Minimum fare: $35** (if the calculated fare is below $35, charge $35 instead)

**Mercedes Vito Premium**
- Base fare: $15
- Distance rate: $4.50/km
- Time rate: $0.60/min
- No minimum fare specified currently

## Admin requirement
We need to be able to update these rates ourselves in the future **without needing a developer or touching code** — e.g. via a Wix CMS Collection/Content Manager table we can log in and edit directly. Please set this up as part of the build and show us how to use it.

## Technical notes for the developer
- Site is on Wix — please build using Wix Velo (Wix's custom code layer).
- Use Google's **Routes API** (Compute Routes) for driving distance/time, and **Places Autocomplete** for the address fields.
- We will need to set up our own Google Cloud billing account and API key — please advise exactly what to enable and how to restrict the API key to our domain for security.
- Please confirm expected Google API costs for our expected volume (small operator — realistically well under the free monthly usage caps Google provides).

## What we don't want
- No unnecessary extra features — just a simple, reliable A-to-B fare calculator and booking handoff.
- No third-party taxi-booking subscription platforms — we want this built natively into our own Wix site.
