We are seeking an experienced organic chemist, medicinal chemist, pharmaceutical process-development chemist, or pharmaceutical research consultant with relevant experience in API/process chemistry and preferably familiarity with Etomidate Freebase (CAS 33125-97-2) or closely related pharmaceutical synthesis and process-development work.
Project Objective
Our team will perform the laboratory work locally in the Philippines. We are looking for an external technical consultant who can recommend the most practical process approach and guide our team through route selection, process development, analytical considerations, troubleshooting, optimisation, and technical documentation.
The intended application is R&D, technical training, process development, and knowledge transfer.
The target is approximately 200 g of isolated R-(+)-Etomidate freebase, subject to final technical review, laboratory capability, regulatory requirements, and agreed specifications.
Scope of Technical Support
The selected consultant should be able to support:
KSM / starting-material and route selection
Evaluation and comparison of practical synthetic routes
Process-development and optimisation recommendations
Raw-material, reagent, solvent, and consumables planning
Laboratory-equipment requirements
Analytical strategy and purity / impurity considerations
Process monitoring and interpretation of laboratory results
Troubleshooting during execution
Scale-up considerations relevant to the proposed laboratory scale
Laboratory handling and storage considerations
Knowledge transfer and technical training
Final technical / process documentation
Our team will conduct the laboratory execution. The consultant's role is to provide technical direction, documentation, review, troubleshooting, and process-development guidance throughout the agreed scope.
Current Laboratory Equipment
We currently have access to:
Fume hood
Standard borosilicate glassware and round-bottom flasks
Magnetic stirrer / hot plate and heating mantle
Thermometer / temperature probe
Ice bath / basic cooling setup
Reflux condenser
Separatory funnel
Vacuum filtration / Büchner setup
Analytical balance
pH paper
Drying oven
If additional standard and readily available laboratory equipment is required, please identify it in your proposal. We may be able to procure additional equipment quickly if it is reasonably priced and readily available locally.
Preference will be given to process approaches that can be executed mainly with standard organic-chemistry laboratory equipment and that minimize the need for highly specialized or difficult-to-source equipment.
What We Want to See in Your Proposal
Please provide sufficient technical detail for us to properly evaluate and compare your proposed approach before selecting a consultant.
The complete proposed SOP / process procedure must be included as part of your proposal so that our team can review the route, required materials, equipment, process practicality, and overall feasibility before selecting a consultant.
Your proposal should include:
Your recommended KSM / starting-material strategy
The route or route options you consider most practical
Approximate number of process stages
Comparison of the proposed route with alternative routes you would consider
Why your preferred approach is suitable for approximately 200 g scale
Complete list of required raw materials, KSMs, reagents, solvents, consumables, and critical materials
Equipment required beyond what we already have
Analytical/testing requirements
Expected major technical challenges or risk points
Your proposed process-development and optimisation strategy
The complete proposed SOP / process procedure for your recommended route
Process controls, monitoring requirements, and important decision points that our team should follow
How you would guide our team during laboratory execution
How troubleshooting and process adjustments would be handled
What support you would provide if the initial execution requires optimisation or adjustment
Proposed milestones, timeline, and commercial terms
The complete SOP is an important part of our proposal evaluation. We want to review the proposed process before choosing a consultant so that we can compare the practicality, complexity, equipment requirements, material availability, development risk, and overall suitability of each candidate's approach.
Applicants who provide only a general description of the route without sufficient process documentation may not provide enough information for us to properly evaluate the proposal.
We would also like to understand what additional documentation you can provide as part of the engagement, including the final process/SOP package, analytical information, observations, troubleshooting guidance, optimisation recommendations, and technical-transfer documentation.
After reviewing the proposals and confirming the preferred route and procedure, we will select the consultant and proceed with the agreed project scope and technical guidance.
Preferred Route Characteristics
Our priorities are:
Simple and practical execution
Minimum number of difficult process steps
Readily available KSMs and raw materials
Reasonable development and manufacturing cost
Low practical risk of batch failure
Minimal reliance on specialized equipment
Suitable for technical training and future process transfer
Reproducible and well documented
Candidate Background
Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in:
Organic synthesis
Pharmaceutical process chemistry
Medicinal chemistry
API process development
CMC / pharmaceutical development
Analytical characterization
Impurity and purity assessment
Process scale-up
Technology transfer
CRO/CDMO or pharmaceutical manufacturing environments
Please briefly describe relevant projects you have completed and the level of hands-on involvement you had in route development, optimisation, scale-up, troubleshooting, and technology transfer.
Please submit your complete proposed technical approach, recommended route, complete SOP/process procedure, required materials and equipment, scope of support, deliverables, timeline, and quotation as part of your proposal.
