I need a seamless drive-by download flow for a Windows-only business application. When a visitor lands on the chosen web page, the installer should begin downloading automatically—or with the lightest possible click friction—while remaining compliant with common browser security prompts.
Here is what I already have: the signed .exe installer, hosting space, and basic page copy. What I do not yet have is the script-driven mechanism, version management logic, and reliable analytics that confirm delivery rates. I also want the solution to respect modern browser standards so the download is not blocked or flagged unnecessarily.
The ideal outcome is a lightweight, maintainable package that:
• Detects the visitor’s platform and starts the download only when Windows is detected, with a graceful fallback message for macOS or Linux users.
• Supports future version updates without forcing me to rewrite code each release.
• Logs key metrics—impressions, successful downloads, and drop-offs—and sends them to Google Analytics or a similar dashboard.
• Can be embedded on multiple landing pages with minimal tweaks.
If you have experience with frictionless software distribution, browser-side scripting (JavaScript, Service Workers, etc.), and basic server configuration, I’d like to see how you would approach this and what timeline you can commit to.
