I have a working surface-EMG biofeedback prototype that is almost ready for a clinical trial. My background is in Occupational Therapy, so I need a technically-minded partner to finish the engineering details.
The prototype already captures clean EMG signals, but three areas still need work before it enters the clinic:
1. Fixing the vibration sensor
• Diagnose the current instability (occasional dropouts and inconsistent amplitude)
• Re-calibrate and, if necessary, replace the sensor so it triggers haptic feedback within 50 ms of threshold detection
• Deliver updated firmware and wiring diagram
2. Building EMG display software for Windows
• Real-time data visualization (raw signal and RMS/average)
• Session recording to CSV or similar format for later analysis
• A user-friendly interface designed for clinicians with minimal technical training
• Installer, full source code, and brief user manual
3. Other minor modifications
• Tidy PCB layout and enclosure fit
• Basic documentation so the device package is ready for ethics approval/IRB review
Preferred tools are open to you (C#/WPF, Python + PyQt, or C++/Qt are all fine) as long as the final executable runs on Windows 10 without admin rights.
Acceptance criteria
• Vibration feedback latency < 50 ms and repeatable across 100 trials
• Software streams at ≥ 1 kHz with no frame drops for at least 30 minutes
• Recorded files open correctly in Excel or MATLAB/R
• Clear, illustrated documentation covering hardware changes, build steps, and clinician workflow
