I have a steady stream of documentation that must be turned into clear, technically accurate copy for a non-expert audience. Because I prefer a freelance engagement, I need someone who can pick up assignments on demand, communicate quickly, and meet short, well-defined deadlines without hand-holding.
All work centres on technical writing—think user guides, how-to articles, and concise product documentation rather than marketing prose or creative storytelling. You should be comfortable digesting source material from engineers or product owners and then producing structured, reader-friendly text in flawless English.
Here’s how I see the workflow: I hand you raw specs, recordings, or bullet-point drafts, and you return polished documents in Word or Google Docs, already formatted with headings, code snippets, tables, and any screenshots you feel improve clarity. You must be able to cite sources where needed and follow any existing style guide I supply; if I haven’t provided one, you’ll rely on MS Style Guide or Chicago for consistency. Version control through Git or similar is a bonus, as some projects live alongside code.
Deliverables will be assigned one piece at a time, paid per approved document. To make sure we’re a fit, please include a short note on the most technically complex topic you’ve explained for lay readers and attach (or link) one representative sample of your writing.
If you’re ready to dive straight into freelance technical writing, I’m eager to read your proposal.
