I’m gearing up for a late-September 2026 mini-documentary shoot in beautiful Tahoe City and need reliable sound support. Specifically, I’m looking for one intermediate-level boom operator and intermediate-level production sound mixer to work closely with my small camera team throughout the shoot.
Your role
• Boom Operator – keep the mic perfectly placed in often breezy, outdoor lakeside environments, maintain steady boom technique during interviews and vérité scenes, and collaborate with the mixer for optimal levels.
• Production Sound Mixer – run the field mixer/recorder, monitor levels, manage gain structure, label files, and hand off organized audio at wrap each day.
Schedule & location
• Two consecutive shoot days scheduled for September 21st, 22nd and 1/2 23rd 2026
• All company moves remain within Tahoe City limits;
Gear
Please let me know what professional field recorders, shotgun booms, or wireless lav sets you own. If you have an established kit rate, feel free to include it in your note.
Deliverables
• Poly-wav files (24-bit/48 kHz) with clear labeling
• Basic sound report for each shoot day
• Brief debrief on any audio issues or wild lines captured
Intermediate-level experience is key: you’ve handled small-crew documentary shoots before, know how to work fast in daylight-only schedules, and communicate calmly on set.
If you’re available for those dates, familiar with documentary pacing, and can get to Tahoe City easily, I’d love to hear about your recent projects and the gear you can bring.
