Structural Engineering for Precast Septic Tanks

We are an Australian plumbing and fabrication business seeking a qualified structural engineer with experience in precast reinforced-concrete products.

We require engineered designs for a range of precast concrete septic-tank lids that our team can manufacture in Western Australia.

The project will include:

• One small non-trafficable concrete lid
• One large non-trafficable concrete lid
• One small trafficable concrete lid suitable for light vehicles
• One large trafficable concrete lid suitable for light vehicles

We are open to using standard or commonly manufactured dimensions if this reduces the engineering and production costs. Final dimensions and required load ratings will be confirmed before work begins.

Required deliverables:

• Structural calculations
• Fabrication-ready engineering drawings
• Concrete strength and durability requirements
• Lid thicknesses
• Reinforcement sizes, spacing and concrete cover
• Reinforcement schedules
• Mould dimensions and manufacturing details
• Cast-in lifting points or lifting-anchor details
• Safe lifting, handling and installation requirements
• Manufacturing tolerances
• Applicable traffic and non-traffic loading requirements
• Signed structural design certificate

All designs must comply with the relevant current Australian Standards, including AS 3600 and any other standards applicable to precast concrete, access covers, lifting anchors and traffic loading.

The successful applicant must:

• Be a qualified structural engineer
• Understand Australian Standards and regulatory requirements
• Be suitably registered in Australia where required
• Clearly identify which Australian engineering registration and certification they can provide

The drawings and certification must allow Beachlands Plumbing & Fabrication to repeatedly manufacture and commercially sell the products, provided we follow the approved drawings, materials and manufacturing requirements.
