Space Opera Book Cover Illustration

I’m commissioning a single, full-bleed illustration that captures the sweeping, vintage “space opera” spirit of classic 70s and 80s movie posters and paperback covers. Think of the larger-than-life compositions used for the original Star Wars one-sheets—heroic figures in the foreground, monumental starships overhead, and a vast, slightly dystopian galaxy stretching into the distance.

The image will serve two purposes: a striking poster and the front cover for my forthcoming sci-fi novel, so it needs to read well both at 24 × 36 inches and when reduced to thumbnail size for online stores. I’m after an epic, almost mythic mood with clear retro touches—subtle halftone textures, bold brushwork, and a limited, saturated colour palette that screams vintage yet feels fresh.

I’ll provide the book’s title typography separately, so leave ample negative space for that in the upper third. Once you show a rough composition, I’ll give feedback; after one round of revisions we’ll move on to colour and final polish.
