SolidWorks Trainer Required – Bespoke Joinery / Parametric Design / AlphaCAM CNC
I’m looking for an experienced SolidWorks user/trainer to provide 1-to-1 practical training focused specifically on bespoke joinery and CNC manufacturing.
I currently program CNC machinery using AlphaCAM and want to introduce SolidWorks into our workflow. The aim is not simply to learn SolidWorks generally, but to develop a fast, repeatable parametric design process that produces models suitable for taking into AlphaCAM for CNC programming.
Our work includes bespoke commercial joinery, cabinetry, wall panelling, counters, reception desks, fitted furniture and other one-off manufactured joinery.
I have no prior experience in SolidWorks and will be transitioning from a CAM background to expand into CAD.
I’m particularly looking to learn:
Parametric modelling for bespoke joinery and cabinetry
Building models that can be quickly resized by changing key dimensions
Using equations, global variables and design tables where appropriate
Creating reusable parametric templates for common joinery components
Assemblies and relationships between components
Efficient modelling of panels, cabinets, frames, doors, drawers, etc.
Producing individual CNC-ready components/solid bodies
Correct use of parts vs assemblies vs multibody parts for CNC manufacture
Applying material/thickness information
Creating manufacturing drawings and cutting information
Designing models specifically with AlphaCAM downstream programming in mind
Exporting geometry from SolidWorks into AlphaCAM cleanly and reliably
Developing the most efficient SolidWorks → AlphaCAM → CNC workflow
I already have CNC and AlphaCAM experience, so I’m not looking for basic CNC training. I want someone who can help me build on that knowledge and teach me how to use SolidWorks properly in a production joinery environment.
Ideally, you will have experience in joinery, cabinetry, furniture manufacturing, woodworking CNC or a similar manufacturing environment, as well as strong knowledge of parametric SolidWorks modelling.
Training can be remote via screen sharing. I would prefer practical sessions where we work through real joinery examples and eventually some of our actual jobs, rather than following generic SolidWorks exercises.
When applying, please explain:
Your SolidWorks experience.
Any joinery/cabinetry/furniture/CNC experience you have.
Whether you have experience preparing SolidWorks models for AlphaCAM or similar CAM software.
How you would structure the training.
Your hourly/day rate and availability.
The goal is for me to eventually be able to take a bespoke joinery project, build it parametrically in SolidWorks, make design changes quickly, and then efficiently transfer the components into AlphaCAM ready for CNC production.
Please share your training approach and any relevant experience.
