WordPress Personal Blog Setup

I have the domain and WordPress installed; now I need the site itself to take shape before I publish a single post. The blog will be personal in tone and should carry a classic, elegant aesthetic. I’m looking for guidance on three fronts—visual design, practical setup, and a light content strategy—so that everything is ready for me to start writing with confidence.
First, I’d like help selecting or custom-tweaking a theme that feels timeless and uncluttered. You can build a child theme or simply refine an existing one, as long as it keeps the code lean and plays nicely with the block editor. Colours, typography, spacing, header, footer, and menus all need to be dialled in so the site looks cohesive on desktop and mobile.
Second, I want the core features configured:
• Social media integration (clean icon set in the header/footer and automatic post sharing).
• Email subscription, preferably via a lightweight plugin that connects to Mailchimp or similar.
• Comment section styled to match the theme, with spam protection in place.
Finally, I’d appreciate a quick consultation on topic ideas, category structure, and a simple content calendar so the site launches with clear direction.
Acceptance criteria: theme installed and customised on my live domain, pages and post template styled, feature plugins active and tested, and a brief hand-off document outlining how to add future content.
If you’re comfortable working inside the WordPress dashboard—and can explain what you’re doing in plain language—let’s get started.
