We are seeking an experienced SolidWorks Design Engineer to collaborate on the development of an innovative engineering project involving the transformation of a compact electric vehicle into a fully functional Mobile Diagnostic Laboratory.
The project focuses on intelligent space optimization, mechanical product design, interior packaging, mechanism development, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM). We already have the product vision, functional requirements, and overall concept. We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented engineer who can convert these ideas into a practical, manufacturable, and production-ready design using SolidWorks.
Scope of Work
Develop complete 3D CAD models in SolidWorks.
Design and assemble all major mechanical components and sub-assemblies.
Optimize the vehicle's interior layout for maximum functionality and efficient space utilization.
Design mechanisms such as sliding, folding, locking, and adjustable systems wherever required.
Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles throughout the design process.
Collaborate during design reviews and implement engineering improvements based on project discussions.
Deliverables
Complete SolidWorks Part, Assembly, and Drawing files.
Well-structured assemblies with organized feature trees.
Manufacturing drawings with dimensions and fabrication details.
Bill of Materials (BOM).
STEP, PDF, and native SolidWorks source files.
High-quality rendered images of the final design.
Documentation of key mechanisms and assemblies.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal freelancer should have strong experience in SolidWorks mechanical design, product development, complex mechanical assemblies, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM). Experience in automotive interiors, compact product packaging, sheet metal design, weldments, or special-purpose vehicle modifications will be a significant advantage. The ability to propose practical engineering solutions, optimize available space, and communicate design decisions effectively is highly valued.
This is an engineering development project rather than a simple CAD modeling assignment. The selected freelancer will be expected to actively contribute to the design process, participate in iterative reviews, solve engineering challenges, and help transform the concept into a robust, manufacturable product.
