Small-Business Accounting System Development

I need a complete, production-ready accounting system built from the ground up for small-business use. The core of the application must revolve around an intuitive cashbook, with seamless links to the General Ledger, Accounts Receivable/Payable, and an automated Bank Reconciliation workflow.

Beyond day-to-day entries, I expect a solid reporting engine that can quickly generate the standard financial statements small companies rely on—think balance sheet, income statement, cash flow, and any custom summaries management may request. While those reports weren’t pre-selected in the questionnaire, please architect the platform so adding or modifying report templates is straightforward.

The flow I have in mind:
• Transactions land in the cashbook → post to the GL in real time.
• Customer and supplier ledgers update A/R and A/P, aging schedules included.
• Regular bank feeds (CSV import or API, depending on your preferred stack) allow one-click reconciliation.

I’m open to the tech stack, but lean toward widely supported frameworks (Laravel, Django, .NET, or similar) with a modern front end that non-technical business owners can navigate. Clean code, clear comments, and well-structured database schemas are critical.

Deliverables
1. Full source code with build/deploy instructions
2. Database schema and ERD
3. User guide covering everyday tasks (entering transactions, running reports, reconciling)
4. Admin guide for configuration, backup, and user management
5. A short video or live demo walkthrough

Acceptance criteria
• Cashbook posts correctly to GL without duplication.
• A/R and A/P aging reports agree with ledger balances.
• Bank reconciliation flags unmatched items and allows quick resolution.
• Financial statements tie out and can be exported to PDF/Excel.
