I need a freelancer to create optimized content for new website pages or blog posts. This is to enhance my site's SEO and improve our Google ranking.

Ideal Skills and Experience:
- Proven SEO expertise
- Strong content creation skills
- Experience with keyword research and implementation
- Ability to improve site readability and engagement
- Quick turnaround time is essential

2. Keyword research

Once the domain is verified, we can use Search Console’s performance data alongside tools such as Google Keyword Planner to identify the best keywords. We should focus on relevant terms with good search volume, realistic competition and clear commercial intent, including local searches. These keywords will form the foundation of our SEO strategy, guiding page titles, headings, content and internal links.

3. On-page optimisation

Title tags and meta descriptions: Title tags should ideally be 50–60 characters, with the primary keyword near the beginning. We don’t need to include “Acorn Business Finance” every time, as it uses up valuable space. Meta descriptions should be around 140–160 characters and encourage clicks, ideally ending with a call to action such as “Call today on…” or “Click here for more information.”

Headings: Each page should have one clear H1 heading, supported by logically structured H2 subheadings.

Images: We should add descriptive ALT text to images across the website and blog, using our keyword research where relevant. This helps Google understand the images, improves visibility in image search and supports accessibility for screen reader users. ALT text should be concise, accurate and natural, avoiding keyword stuffing.

4. Content

Optimise existing pages: We should update the content across our pages so it targets relevant keywords, answers customer questions and clearly explains our services.

Internal linking: We should add natural links between related pages, such as connecting sector pages to our business loans, asset finance and commercial finance pages. This helps Google understand how our pages relate to each other and guides visitors towards useful information and enquiries. This should feel natural rather than overdone.

Blog content: We should regularly publish blog posts that target relevant keywords and answer customer questions. Every blog post should be optimised in the same way as our main pages, with a title tag, meta description, single H1, optimised images with ALT text and internal links to relevant pages across the site.

Reviews and testimonials on the website: Adding genuine customer reviews and testimonials to relevant pages will help build trust, improve engagement and encourage enquiries.

5. Local visibility

Optimise our Google Business Profile: Make sure our business details, categories, services, website link and opening hours are accurate and complete. We should also add relevant photos and post regular updates to keep the profile active.

Build Google reviews: As discussed, we should encourage local customers to leave genuine Google reviews and respond professionally to all feedback, positive and negative, to build trust and credibility.

Keep local listings consistent: Our business should appear consistently across reputable local directories and business networks, using exactly the same name, address, phone number and website throughout. As a starting point, we should review our presence on Glos.info, Cheltenham Chamber of Commerce, Visit Gloucestershire, The Fosseway and 192.com, correcting outdated details and adding listings where appropriate.

Engage with local businesses on social media: Follow and interact with Cheltenham businesses, accountants, solicitors and business networks, particularly on LinkedIn. Liking, sharing and commenting on their posts, and using local hashtags, will help raise our profile in the local business community.
