Alongside their electrical operations, they manage a growing portfolio of property renovation, investment and development projects across Australia and the Philippines.
Role Overview: The Senior Electrical Estimator & Technical Services Manager will provide hands-on estimating, tendering, CAD drafting and project support to an Australian electrical contracting team.
Initially, the role will focus on preparing accurate estimates, technical drawings, tender submissions, variations and project documentation for current and prospective projects. Over time, the successful candidate will help establish and lead a Philippines-based team of estimators, CAD drafters and project support professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
Electrical Estimating
Prepare accurate estimates for Australian residential, commercial and electrical fit-out projects
Review architectural plans, electrical drawings, circuit schedules, specifications and tender documentation to determine the complete scope of work
Complete detailed material, labour and equipment take-offs
Prepare quotations, tender pricing, project budgets and supporting submission documents
Price variations, additional works and changes in project scope
Obtain, assess and compare supplier quotations and material pricing
Ensure estimates reflect current Australian labour rates, material costs, lead times and project conditions
Maintain accurate estimating templates, cost libraries and supplier pricing information
Identify scope gaps, commercial risks and potential pricing concerns before estimates are submitted
Apply sound knowledge of Australian electrical construction practices, AS/NZS 3000 and related standards
Provide estimating support across power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, switchboards, protection systems, data, fibre, security and CCTV installations
CAD & Technical Documentation
Produce professional electrical shop drawings and as-built drawings using AutoCAD
Review and mark up plans, drawings and technical documentation using Bluebeam
Prepare operations, maintenance and project handover manuals
Manage drawing revisions and ensure all technical documentation is accurate, organised and up to date
Coordinate drawing and documentation requirements with project managers and the Australian delivery team
Develop standardised drawing templates, document-control procedures and technical quality standards
Review technical drawings produced by future team members and provide clear feedback
Project Management Support
Assist project managers with project costing, procurement, coordination, reporting and administration
Prepare monthly progress-claim spreadsheets and supporting documentation
Track project costs, labour, materials, supplier expenses and other relevant project information
Maintain accurate job and project records in Simpro or similar systems
Use Procore or other construction-management platforms where required
Assist with purchase orders, supplier quotations and material procurement
Monitor project documentation, deadlines and outstanding actions
Provide timely estimating and technical support throughout the project lifecycle
Assist with residential renovation or building-material estimates as the client’s property activities develop
Tendering & Business Development Support
Monitor industry tender platforms and subscription services for suitable opportunities
Assess prospective tenders and provide recommendations to the Australian team
Support the preparation, pricing and timely submission of tender responses
Maintain accurate tender pipelines, CRM records, submission details and tender outcomes
Coordinate required documentation with suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders
Provide back-office support for business-development and client-engagement activities
Maintain organised records of tender opportunities, submissions, follow-ups and results
Help develop the technical services function into a scalable service for other Australian electrical contractors
Team Development & Management
Help establish and grow a Philippines-based team of estimators, CAD drafters and project support professionals
Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training and mentoring future team members
Develop standard operating procedures, estimating templates and quality-control processes
Review estimates, take-offs and technical drawings completed by team members
Allocate workloads, manage deadlines and monitor team capacity
Maintain consistent quality, accuracy and turnaround times across team outputs
Establish performance expectations and provide practical coaching and feedback
Identify future staffing and capability requirements as the technical services function grows
Help develop service-delivery processes, pricing structures and quality standards for a scalable external service offering
AI & Technology
Identify opportunities to use AI to improve estimating accuracy, turnaround times and productivity
Use AI-assisted tools for tender-document review, scope analysis and risk identification
Develop technology-supported workflows for estimating, project documentation and administration
Explore opportunities to improve CAD, drawing-review and document-control processes
Evaluate emerging tools relevant to electrical estimating, construction and project management
Create repeatable workflows, templates and prompts that can be adopted across the technical services team
Support the responsible implementation of automation while maintaining appropriate human review and quality control

Requirements
At least 5 years of electrical estimating experience, including proven experience supporting Australian projects
Strong experience estimating commercial electrical fit-outs
Demonstrated understanding of Australian electrical construction and tendering practices
Strong working knowledge of AS/NZS 3000 and related Australian electrical standards
Ability to confidently interpret architectural plans, electrical drawings, circuit schedules, specifications and tender documents
Strong knowledge of electrical power and distribution, lighting, lighting controls, switchboards, cable sizing, RCDs and protection systems
Familiarity with structured cabling, fibre, security and CCTV systems
Experience preparing detailed labour and material take-offs
Experience obtaining supplier pricing and assessing competing quotations
Experience pricing variations and additional works
Strong AutoCAD and Bluebeam skills
Experience using Simpro or comparable job and project-management software
Advanced Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet-based estimating skills
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
Strong numerical, analytical and commercial decision-making abilities
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple tenders, projects and deadlines independently
Confidence communicating with Australian-based project teams, suppliers and stakeholders
Ability to take ownership, identify problems and make practical recommendations in a remote working environment
