Semi-Senior QA Engineer (Manual & Automation)
Full-time contractor · Fully remote · Latin America only
Cloudnonic is an international, fully remote cloud and software company. We build customized cloud-native systems for clients in Europe and North America, and we're looking for a Semi-Senior QA engineer to join the team.
Who we are
Cloudnonic Corp. is a digitally native software and cloud startup based in the Kitchener/Waterloo area, Ontario, Canada. We're fully remote, with developers in Canada and South America and clients across Europe, North America, and South America. We work across healthcare, finance, construction, and manufacturing, and we take the time to understand each client's industry so we can serve it well with technology.
We're big on AI and the cloud. Our services range from app and web development to AI and cloud integration, plus technology consulting: designing feasible, secure, cost-effective architectures for non-technical clients and advising them on their tech stack.
The role
You'll test across multiple client projects, each with its own platform, users, and quirks. You'll need to understand a new platform quickly and see it the way its end users do: what they expect, where they get confused, and what breaks when they do something nobody planned for.
We ship weekly, from development to staging to production. You'll be the quality gate in between. That includes regression testing: running the same core flows release after release, carefully, every time. If repetition bores you, this isn't the right fit. If you see it as the job that protects users, it is.
We deliver AI-first. AI generates our tickets and acceptance criteria, we pair with AI while developing, and every pull request goes through AI review before a senior engineer reviews it. That makes us fast, and it makes QA more important, not less. We expect you to use AI to generate test cases, draft scripts, and speed up automation, and to know where it falls short: an AI-written test can pass while missing the bug a real user would hit. You need to judge whether a test actually proves something. If you can only run the tests an AI wrote for you, this isn't the role for you.
You'll work closely with developers and project managers, and you'll keep moving our testing forward by adopting new automation tools as they appear. Expect to be challenged constantly, and to enjoy the work along the way.
What you'll do
Test new features and bug fixes across multiple client projects before they reach production
Run regression testing on core user flows for every release
Write clear test cases and test scripts based on acceptance criteria
Build and maintain automated tests using modern tools, including AI-powered testing tools
Report bugs with precise reproduction steps, expected vs. actual behavior, and evidence
Evaluate features from the end user's perspective and flag usability issues, not only functional ones
Work independently while keeping the team informed
We're looking for a self-starter who organizes their own day. We trust you to prioritize your week and keep everyone updated as you go.
