Maya had always loved the old college library—not for its books, but for the window seat on the third floor. It overlooked the garden where sunlight spilled like warm honey across the grass, and every Friday at 3 p.m., someone else showed up outside that window: a boy with a sketchpad.

She didn’t know his name, but he was always there—sketching trees, birds, clouds… and once, she realized with a flutter, her. That day he had looked up, surprised to see her watching. He’d smiled, lifted the sketchpad slightly, then tucked it away and left.
