Remove parallel Dongle Check VB6 App

There is an old VB6 program that still insists on a hardware dongle. For personal use I’d like the software to run on modern Windows machines without needing that key. There’s no written documentation on how the protection was implemented, so the job will involve tracing the dongle-related calls, understanding the handshake, and either cleanly removing or neatly emulating it inside the codebase.

You’ll receive:
• The VB6 compiled EXE.

Deliverables & acceptance:
• Modified source that builds in the standard VB6 IDE with the dongle check fully disabled or internally emulated
• All program functions available and error-free on Windows 10 without the physical key

Feel free to rely on whatever analysis or debugging tools you prefer (IDA, OllyDbg, SoftICE, custom dongle emulators, etc.) as long as the final solution remains self-contained in the VB6 code. Please outline your approach, timeframe, and any relevant experience when you reply.
