QGIS Thematic Mapping From Imagery
Budget / Salary$30–250
TypeFreelance project

This assignment centers on producing a set of clear, publication-ready thematic maps in QGIS. The core purpose is mapping and cartography, not statistical reporting or raw data handling, so every task points toward visually compelling map composition.
Data in hand
• Recent, georeferenced satellite imagery serves as the primary spatial layer.
• Vector overlays and attribute tables will be shared once the project starts.
Scope of work
Process the satellite scenes, extract or classify the required features, and design thematic symbology that tells the intended story at a glance. Typical steps include image preprocessing (clipping, reprojection, contrast stretch), attribute-based styling, layout creation with legends, scale bars, north arrows, and export to high-resolution PNG/PDF. OpenStreetMap or survey layers can be added only if they improve readability; the project should remain satellite-driven.
Deliverables
• A self-contained QGIS project file (.qgz) with all styles saved
• At least three final thematic map sheets (A3 or A4) exported in PNG and PDF formats
• Any custom style (.qml) or processing scripts used
Acceptance criteria
1. Map layouts match agreed colour palette and scale.
2. All layers render without missing paths when the project folder is moved.
3. Visual clarity is maintained when printed at 300 dpi.
Everything will be coordinated remotely; file exchange will happen through a shared cloud folder. Quick check-ins by chat are fine, but the key measure of success is a clean, well-organised QGIS project that a third party can open and understand immediately.
