Overview
The Principal Technology Architect helps define the future of our SaaS product architecture by combining strategic technology vision with hands-on design across cloud infrastructure, enterprise DevOps workflows, and next-generation agentic AI capabilities. This role is ideal for a senior architect who can set architectural direction while actively shaping secure, scalable, and resilient solutions using AWS, AI-enabled engineering practices, and emerging agent technologies.
In this senior individual contributor role, you will translate complex business and technology needs into practical architecture roadmaps and executable designs. You will lead architecture decisions for cloud-native platforms, DevOps automation, agentic AI integration, orchestration patterns, agent-to-agent collaboration, Model Context Protocol (MCP), and AWS capabilities such as AgentCore, Strands, and Amazon Bedrock.
Partnering with product, engineering, security, operations, and enterprise architecture leaders, you will evaluate emerging technologies, guide proofs of concept, and ensure modern product designs meet architecture, security, governance, and operational standards across public cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
The successful candidate will bring deep AWS architecture expertise, strong DevOps and SDLC automation experience, and the ability to apply agentic AI responsibly to improve scalability, delivery speed, resiliency, and long-term maintainability.
Responsibilities
Define enterprise architecture blueprints for secure, scalable AWS environments optimized for autonomous AI agent orchestration
Embed AI-driven automation directly into the DevOps SDLC to accelerate software delivery, testing, and security scanning
Align C-suite technology strategy with implementation teams, defining governance, security, and compliance frameworks for AI workflows
Define and communicate the architectural vision and strategy for healthcare SaaS products, ensuring alignment with enterprise technology direction and product roadmap priorities
Design and implement cloud-native SaaS architectures that perform at scale, with emphasis on elasticity, availability, resiliency, and secure integration across infrastructure, services, and applications
Maintain a holistic product technology scorecard, including the technical roadmap, technical debt inventory, product security alignment, architecture standards, and operational reference model compliance
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams, promoting best practices in software design, development, operational optimization, and continuous learning
Champion elastic, serverless, and microservice architecture patterns that support highly scalable and resilient SaaS products aligned with the AWS Well-Architected Framework and cloud best practices
Ensure solutions adhere to applicable industry standards, regulatory requirements, architecture governance expectations, and data security and privacy obligations
Produce and shepherd architecture artifacts, designs, and decision records through the architecture governance process
Collaborate with stakeholders, clients, product management, engineering, technical platform architects, security, and operations to translate business needs into actionable product architecture designs
Drive adoption of emerging technologies and methodologies, including AI/ML, automation, microservices, and serverless architectures, incorporating relevant trends into the architectural roadmap
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Distinguished engineer/architect with deep technical credibility and enterprise-level architecture leadership capability
Deep, hands-on strategic knowledge of modern SDLC automation and Agentic AI platform design
Advanced knowledge of AWS services, cloud architecture principles, cost optimization strategies, and secure cloud-native implementation patterns
Advanced proficiency in cloud-native serverless application design and development, microservices architecture, event-driven design patterns, and multi-region, multi-tenant SaaS models
Ability to apply scalability, high availability, data retention, disaster recovery, resiliency, monitoring, observability, and security best practices across enterprise SaaS environments
Working knowledge of healthcare technology compliance frameworks and regulations, including HITRUST, HIPAA, SOC 2, data privacy, and cloud identity and access models
Strong architecture governance capability, including the ability to define standards, produce architecture artifacts, document decisions, and guide solutions through governance review
Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to listen, synthesize complex technical and business inputs, analyze data, and make sound recommendations
Strong executive communication, interpersonal influence, and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to lead technical discussions, align technical and non-technical audiences, and drive innovation
