I need an experienced DevOps-minded tutor to sit with me over AnyDesk and guide me, step by step, through installing and configuring a self-hosted GitLab instance, placing it behind a secure Tailscale mesh, and preparing the same server for a small AI-coding proof of concept.

The emphasis is on learning: you carry out each step while explaining what you are doing and why, so that I can repeat the process later on my own. We will start from a fresh VPS (or a local box if you think that is wiser). By the end of the session I expect:

• The server hardened, updated, and reachable only online with anydesk
• GitLab fully operational with one demo repository and a runner configured.
• A minimal CI pipeline that executes a “hello-world” AI script using either PyTorch, TensorFlow or Scikit-learn—whichever fits the available hardware.
• A concise Markdown log of every command you ran and any config files you changed.

I plan to record the session, so explanations need to be clear and thorough. The entire exercise should be manageable in a couple of hours. I am on GMT+1 and can make time most evenings.

If you’re comfortable troubleshooting live, teaching as you go, and you know GitLab, Tailscale, and Python-based AI stacks well, please share your earliest availability and a brief outline of the approach you would take.
