I’m putting together a bright, engaging picture book that helps children aged 3–5 grasp early number concepts while enjoying a fun story. The heart of the project is educational—specifically numbers and counting—so every page needs to weave the numerals naturally into the narrative, giving little readers plenty of chances to recognise, repeat and practise.
You’ll craft a complete manuscript that holds a preschooler’s attention with simple vocabulary, rhythmic phrasing and playful characters. Think along the lines of a light adventure or everyday scenario where counting from 1 to 10 (and possibly beyond) feels organic rather than forced. I’m happy for you to suggest imaginative twists, but the educational purpose must stay front and centre.
Deliverables
• Finished manuscript in Word or Google Docs
• Clear page breaks plus brief illustration notes (optional but helpful)
• Word count appropriate for a 24–32 page picture book—roughly 400–700 words in total
• Final proofread copy, ready for layout
Acceptance criteria
• Numbers and counting are used accurately and repeatedly without sounding repetitive
• Language is age-appropriate (no more than a few short sentences per page)
• Story arc has a clear beginning, gentle conflict or challenge, and satisfying end
• Manuscript arrives on or before the agreed deadline in the requested file format
If you have previous examples of counting or concept books for this age bracket, feel free to share links or excerpts when you submit your proposal.
