Part-Time RPGLE Feature Development

The project calls for a part-time iSeries / IBM i RPGLE developer who can concentrate on building fresh functionality into an existing code-base. The emphasis is clearly on new feature development; maintenance, bug fixing, and performance tuning may surface later, but the immediate priority is rolling out additional capability that moves the application forward.

I remain flexible about the nature of those features—user-facing improvements, back-end process enhancements, or integrations with outside systems are all on the table. The key requirement is clean, modern RPGLE (free-format preferred), well-documented code, and the ability to slot into a weekly rhythm of deliverables without a full-time commitment.

Typical tools and environment: IBM i 7.x, RPGLE, SQLRPGLE, CL, DDS, and RDi. Access to the LPAR and test libraries will be provided, along with functional specs or user stories at the start of each mini-sprint.

Deliverables (per sprint)
• Source in the supplied Git repository
• Compile instructions or CL scripts
• A brief change log and unit-test evidence

Acceptance is based on the new module compiling cleanly, running without errors in the test library, and meeting the agreed user story. Workload averages 10–15 hours per week and can flex up or down as the backlog evolves.
