We are a U.S.-based luxury skincare company developing a new premium skincare line and are looking for a French/English-speaking freelancer based in Paris or the surrounding area.
We need someone who can work as our local coordinator in France and help us communicate with cosmetic laboratories, ingredient suppliers, manufacturers, and other relevant companies.
The ideal person should understand how the European cosmetic industry works and have familiarity with EU cosmetic requirements and the practical process of developing and manufacturing skincare products in Europe.
Main responsibilities:
1. Ingredient sourcing
* Identify reputable European suppliers for natural, organic, and synthetic cosmetic ingredients
* Contact suppliers and obtain current pricing, MOQs, availability, lead times, and samples
* Request technical documentation such as INCI information, specifications, SDS/MSDS, COA, certifications, and other relevant documents
* Help coordinate purchasing and shipment of ingredients
2. Cosmetic laboratories & manufacturers
* Identify reputable cosmetic formulation laboratories and manufacturers in France/Europe
* Communicate with laboratories on our behalf
* Provide them with our ingredient information and product requirements
* Help coordinate formulation, samples, testing, revisions, and production discussions
* Obtain quotes, MOQs, timelines, and manufacturing requirements
* Arrange and attend meetings or site visits when appropriate
3. EU/France business and regulatory coordination
* Help us understand the practical requirements for establishing a company or business presence in France/EU for our skincare business
* Identify the appropriate professionals (accountant, lawyer, regulatory consultant, etc.) when specialized advice is required
* Help us understand the basic requirements for importing, purchasing, manufacturing, and shipping cosmetic products within Europe
* Help identify potential EU cosmetic regulatory requirements and flag issues that need review by a qualified regulatory professional
4. Local coordination & logistics
* Act as our local point of contact when communication in French is required
* Translate French communications and documents into clear English
* Coordinate samples, ingredients, documents, and shipments
* Attend local meetings or supplier/laboratory visits when necessary
* Take notes and photos during visits when permitted
5. Reporting
We need organized and concise updates throughout the project and a final report containing:
* Supplier/laboratory/manufacturer contact information
* Pricing and MOQ comparisons
* Lead times
* Ingredient and product documentation
* Sample status
* Important regulatory or logistical considerations
* Recommended next steps
* Any potential risks or red flags
Requirements:
* Fluent French and English
* Located in Paris or the surrounding region
* Able to travel within the Paris area
* Experience with cosmetics, skincare, cosmetic ingredients, formulation, laboratories, or beauty manufacturing
* Familiarity with the European cosmetic industry and EU cosmetic regulations
* Strong communication and organizational skills
* Comfortable communicating directly with French companies and suppliers
Important:
We are looking for someone who can actually work with us on the ground in Paris, not only perform online research.
This will initially be a small project of approximately 4 to 5 days . If the relationship works well, we expect additional work and potentially an ongoing role as our local coordinator.
Budget:
Our target budget is approximately $150–$200 per day depending on experience. We are also open to discussing a fixed fee for clearly defined tasks.
Please include in your application:
1. Your location
2. Your experience in the cosmetics/skincare industry
3. Your experience working with French laboratories or ingredient suppliers
4. Your knowledge of EU cosmetic requirements
5. Your daily/project rate
6. Your availability
7. Examples of relevant projects you have worked on
