I’m ready to retire my ageing OsCommerce 2.4 store and relaunch on the latest stable release of OpenCart, but I can’t afford to lose a single record in the process. Your task is a clean, verifiable migration of the entire shop.
Scope
• Every user account, password hash, address book entry and full order history must arrive intact in OpenCart.
• All product data — catalogue structure, categories, attributes, images and stock levels — needs to map cleanly to OpenCart’s schema.
• Existing payment and shipping methods are to be recreated or configured in OpenCart so customers experience no disruption at checkout.
• SEO-critical elements such as current URLs, meta titles and descriptions should be preserved where technically achievable to avoid traffic drops.
• After migration I want to see the same totals, tax calculations and status history for any randomly-selected order I choose to audit.
Process hints
I expect the usual toolkit here: MySQL dumps, phpMyAdmin or CLI for data handling, OpenCart’s import/export utilities or a custom script where necessary, plus PHP adjustments to reconcile differences in password encryption and tax logic. A staged copy on your own server for first-round testing is preferred; once signed off, we’ll repeat the procedure on my live VPS.
Deliverables
1. A fully-functioning OpenCart installation containing all legacy data.
2. A concise migration log detailing steps, scripts used and any irreversible changes.
3. Written rollback or recovery instructions in case the unexpected happens post-launch.
Acceptance
I’ll run checksum counts on customers, orders and products; anything less than a 100 % match fails the job. Broken images, missing attributes or checkout errors also count as blockers.
