Our production platform is built on Node.js and I’m looking for someone who can step in as a long-term partner to keep it healthy while steadily making it better. Day-to-day you’ll be digging into three broad areas:
• Fixing bugs as they surface so the system remains stable.
• Profiling and tuning performance to keep response times low, memory use under control, and throughput high.
• Enhancing existing features—polishing the user interface, tightening up backend logic, and refining the data-processing layer whenever we see an opportunity.
Most of the work is about improving what already exists rather than building brand-new modules, so an eye for incremental refactorings, clean code, and solid test coverage is essential. I’ll share a prioritized ticket list in Jira (or your preferred tracker) and expect regular pull requests with clear commit messages. Automated tests must pass before merge; where coverage is missing you’ll extend our Mocha/Chai suite.
Please tell me about:
1. Similar Node.js applications you’ve maintained in production.
2. Your approach to diagnosing memory leaks or performance bottlenecks.
3. Typical turnaround time for a critical bug fix.
If you’re comfortable owning the entire lifecycle—from identifying an issue through to deployment—let’s talk.
