Moodle Enhancement: WhatsApp, Google Tools, Social Media -- 2

Al Kithab Academy is an online Islamic educational academy. Our public website and learning management system run on Moodle 4.5 (LTS) at alkithabacademy.com, hosted on a Hostinger VPS (Ubuntu, nginx, PHP 8.3, MariaDB, Redis).

The previous developer has finished his engagement. Most of the system is built as custom Moodle plugins: the theme, public website, portals, publications, certificates and a Google Meet module. A full handover document is available. We need an experienced Moodle developer to secure the system, complete the outstanding work and add new features.

Stage 1 – Take over and secure the system
- Review the existing code and handover document, and confirm what is complete
- Security check of the server and Moodle: remove all previous developer access (SSH keys, server users, admin accounts) and check for any unknown users, scheduled tasks or code
- Change the database, e-mail and server passwords safely, without breaking the site
- Set up regular backups of the database and Moodle data, stored off the server
- Set up a staging copy of the site for testing

Stage 2 – Complete the Academy portals and admin customisation
- Customise the Student, Teacher, Headmistress, Admin and Guest portals to match our approved designs, so that the portals look and work as part of the Academy site rather than as standard Moodle pages
- Approved designs for the Student portal are ready and will be shared. Designs for the other portals will follow.
- WordPress-style customisation in the Admin portal: the admin can edit the public website and portal pages from the admin area without code, including text, images, colours, menus and page sections, with a preview before changes go live
- Complete the remaining items from our corrections list (provided after hiring)

Stage 3 – Payments, Google Meet and new features

Payment gateway
- Integrate our Sri Lankan bank payment gateway with Moodle payments, replacing the current test gateway, with automatic course enrolment

Google Meet attendance
- Complete attendance through Google Workspace: join and leave times, and duration, recorded in the portal's attendance

WhatsApp integration (WhatsApp Business API)
- Registration OTPs sent by WhatsApp
- Class reminders to teachers and students before each class
- Welcome messages for new students and teachers
- Purchase confirmations
- Every message sent in the portal's Messages tab also delivered to the recipient's WhatsApp, with a note and link asking them to reply through the member portal
- The Academy will provide business documents and a new WhatsApp number for Meta verification

Google Slides and Google Drive for teachers
- Slides for the next class available to the assigned teacher only, never to students
- Slides released to the teacher automatically
- Google Drive managed from inside the portal

Social Media tab
- A central place in the portal to upload the Academy's social media posts
- Platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Threads, X, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn

Requirements
- Proven experience with custom Moodle plugin development, Moodle payment gateways and API integrations (Google Workspace, WhatsApp Business API)
- Ability to work with existing custom plugins written by another developer
- Moodle-native features or established plugins where possible, with no changes to Moodle core
- All work done and tested on staging first. Nothing goes on the live site without my approval.
- Clear handover notes for each stage, and all code delivered to a repository owned by the Academy

Important: All accounts, code and credentials remain the property of Al Kithab Academy. The developer must not change ownership, recovery details or passwords without written permission.
In your proposal, please include:
- Your approach for each stage
- Your timeframe for each stage
- Examples of similar Moodle work, especially custom portals, page customisation tools, payment gateways or WhatsApp integrations
- Any ongoing costs we should expect, such as WhatsApp message charges or plugin licences

Budget: $55 fixed price for all three stages, released by milestone as each stage is completed and tested:
- Stage 1: $15
- Stage 2: $20
- Stage 3: $20
