I have a consumer-grade product that now needs a robust, production-ready metal enclosure. I’m looking for a designer who can take my rough concept sketches and translate them into a clean, fully-detailed 3D CAD model ready for manufacturing.
The enclosure must be modelled entirely in metal; I have not yet fixed the surface finish, so I’m open to your guidance on whether a polished, matte, or textured look will best balance appearance, durability, and cost. If you have examples of similar metalwork you’ve handled—especially sheet-metal folds, die-cast housings, or CNC-milled parts—please share them so I can gauge fit and finish.
What I need from you
• Precise 3D geometry of every part of the enclosure, created in a mainstream package such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Inventor, or similar (as long as STEP/IGES exports are clean).
• A fully-assembled model that verifies clearances, fastening strategy, and any hinge or snap features we adopt.
• 2D manufacturing drawings with call-outs for critical dimensions, bend radii, hole sizes, and tolerances suitable for production quotes.
• A short BOM covering raw material spec (alloy, thickness), recommended hardware, and finishing notes.
Acceptance criteria
1. All parts mate without interference when the model is run through interference detection.
2. Drawings include ISO or ANSI views with readable dimensions and GD&T symbols where tighter control is required.
3. Exported STEP files open flawlessly in a neutral viewer (e.g., eDrawings).
4. Design reflects manufacturability; no features that would require exotic tooling unless we discuss first.
