This is a remote, full-time role where you will provide administrative and customerservice support to help streamline operations and improve the patient experience.You’ll work closely with the Billing Manager and broader clinic team to manage patientcommunications, claims submission, claims follow up, insurance verifications, andvarious administrative functions.
Key Responsibilities
Insurance & Billing Support
Submit insurance claims (primary and secondary) accurately and in a timelymanner
Review and resolve rejected or denied claims
Manage aging reports and follow up on unpaid claims
Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits
● Obtain pre-authorizations as needed
● Post insurance and patient payments
Send patient statements and respond to billing inquiries
Update patient files with insurance and billing details
Communicate with insurance providers to clarify benefits or resolve issues● Track pending claims and assist with appeals on denied claims● Monitor billing accuracy in both Valant and Waystar clearinghouse
Compliance & Collaboration
Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality
Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams on documentation andcoding best practices
Tools and Software
● Valant (EMR)
● Waystar Clearing House
Insurance Portals (Aetna, Cigna, Optum, BCBS of AZ, Medicaid, Medicare, etc)● Microsoft 365
Requirements
Previous experience as a Mental Health Billing Specialist, or similar role ● Strong communication skills and a professional, empathetic demeanor ● Comfortable using EMRs and other administrative software (preferably experience with Valant)
Knowledge of insurance verification and Medicare patient guidelines (preferred)
Highly organized with attention to detail and ability to multitask
Reliable internet connection and backup power source
Ability to work independently while staying aligned with an in-clinic team
