Description
Overview
We're a start-up company building a ruggedized wireless sensor network for remote field monitoring. We're looking for an experienced embedded engineer (or a small shop) to design, assemble, flash, and bench-test production-ready sensor nodes and a cellular gateway, built to a detailed technical spec we provide after NDA.
This is a build-to-spec engagement: you own hardware sourcing/assembly and firmware implementation/validation. Cloud infrastructure, field deployment, and end-customer work are out of scope and handled in-house.
What you'll build (high level)
Battery- and solar-powered wireless sensor nodes with proximity, motion, and vibration sensing
Long-range sub-GHz (LoRa / SX1262) communication with GPS-based time synchronization
A cellular (LTE) gateway node that publishes to our cloud over MQTT
Weatherproof (IP65) field-ready enclosures with validated power and RF performance
Strong experience required with
Embedded C/C++ for ESP32-S3 and nRF52840 (RAK WisBlock) in the Arduino framework
LoRa radio work on the SX1262 (RadioLib or similar), including RF tuning
Sensor integration over I2C/UART/GPIO (PIR, accelerometer, GPS)
Cellular modems (SIM7600 / LTE) and MQTT
Li-ion / LiPo + solar charging design and validation
Antenna matching and VSWR validation (NanoVNA or antenna analyzer)
Implementing device AES-128 encryption
Clean documentation: traceable BOM, as-built wiring diagrams, bench-test logs
Deliverables
Fully assembled, firmware-flashed, bench-tested units that pass a defined acceptance checklist
Source firmware (all IP assigned to us), BOM, wiring diagrams, and QA/test documentation
Terms
Milestone-based, delivered as work-made-for-hire; all designs, source, and docs are our exclusive IP
