Legacy Enterprise Software Acquisition

Seeking Privately Owned Legacy Enterprise Software Repositories / Codebases

We are looking for privately owned, mature legacy enterprise software repositories/codebases with substantial development history, authentic business logic, and genuine human developer activity.

This is a research/acquisition requirement for evaluating legacy software projects with real-world development and maintenance history.

Preferred Technology Stacks

We are particularly interested in repositories using one or more of the following technologies:

COBOL

Fortran

RPG

.NET Framework

Classic ASP

VB6

Legacy C#

Java 7 or earlier

C / C++

Go

Rust

Ruby

Swift

Kotlin

Other comparable legacy enterprise technologies may also be considered.

Key Requirements

The repository/codebase should preferably meet the following criteria:

Long-running enterprise or business-critical application

Substantial real-world business logic

Genuine human-developed and maintained code

Authentic historical development and maintenance activity

Meaningful commit history, bug fixes, feature enhancements, and maintenance work

Multiple contributors/developers, where applicable

Meaningful PR and issue history, where applicable

Evidence of multiple generations of architecture, frameworks, or technology migrations, where applicable

Privately owned repository/codebase

Clear ownership and authority to license, sell, or transfer the codebase

Commercial usage, licensing, or transfer rights available, if applicable

No AI-generated, synthetic, artificially created, or recently fabricated development history

Not Preferred

Please do not submit:

Open-source repositories without transferable commercial rights

Demo, tutorial, or sample projects

Student/academic projects

Small utilities or hobby projects

Recently created repositories

Projects with little or no meaningful development history

Artificially generated or synthetic codebases

AI-generated codebases or fabricated commit/development histories

Information Required for Initial Evaluation

Before providing full repository access or confidential source code, please provide the following metadata:

Technology stack and versions

Approximate repository age / development period

Business domain

Approximate lines of code (LOC)

Number of contributors

Approximate number of commits

Number of PRs and issues, if applicable

Brief description of the application and its business purpose

Migration/modernization history, if any

Ownership status

Commercial licensing / sale / transfer rights

Repository link or other verifiable reference, where appropriate

Please do not share confidential credentials, customer data, personal information, proprietary secrets, or other sensitive information during the initial evaluation.

What We Are Looking For

We are interested in authentic, mature enterprise codebases that demonstrate years of real-world software development, maintenance, business-rule evolution, and modernization.

If you have access to a suitable privately owned repository, please submit the requested metadata first. We will review the information and shortlist potentially suitable projects for further evaluation and commercial discussion.

Please clearly state your ownership/authorization status and whether you have the legal right to license or transfer the codebase commercially.

Interested parties should provide the requested information in their Freelancer proposal.
