I’m in the middle of bringing an aging CNC turning lathe back to life and the first step is a full replacement of its control system. The current electronics are unreliable and limit both repeatability and the life-span of the spindle/tooling, so the retrofit has two inseparable goals: install a modern, feature-rich controller and, by doing so, create the conditions for longer-lasting, more robust spindle and tooling performance.

Here’s what I need: a specialist who can specify the right controller platform, size compatible servo drives and I/O, prepare all wiring and panel layouts, and deliver a clean, documented integration that drops straight into the machine. Fanuc, Siemens, Centroid, or an open-architecture solution such as LinuxCNC are all on the table—the key is rock-solid reliability and supportability.

To keep the project organized, I expect the following tangible items:

• Detailed retrofit plan and schematics
• Bill of materials with part numbers and suppliers
• PLC/ladder or equivalent logic program plus HMI screens
• Parameter files and post-processor setup for turning cycles
• Commissioning checklist with test cuts focused on load, thermal stability, and vibration to prove the durability uplift

Remote guidance is fine for most of the work, but I will need live video support during power-up and initial tuning. Clear English documentation is a must so future maintenance stays simple.
