I want to turn the idea of a small “follow me” car into a working indoor prototype I can use at home. It should quietly track and follow a person around flat floors, weave through doorways or hallways, and stop safely when I stop. Because it is for personal use on smooth indoor surfaces, size and noise matter more to me than ruggedness or high speed.

Here’s what I need from you:
• Select or design a compact chassis, drive train, and battery that can run at least 30 minutes on a single charge.
• Recommend and integrate the sensing stack—camera, ultrasonic, LiDAR, Bluetooth beacon, or any mix you believe best balances accuracy and cost—for reliable human-following and basic obstacle avoidance indoors.
• Write the control firmware / software, preferably in Arduino-compatible C++ or Python (I’m open to your preferred stack if you justify it).
• Provide a complete bill of materials, wiring diagram or schematic, cleanly commented source code, and step-by-step assembly instructions.
• Demonstrate performance with a short video of the car successfully following a person around an average-sized room, stopping within a safe distance, and resuming when the path is clear.

If you have past robotics or embedded systems experience—especially with indoor navigation or human-tracking—please share it when you respond. I’m happy to discuss alternative sensor choices and clever ideas that keep the build affordable without sacrificing reliability.
