Hands-On Cybersecurity Training Needed

I’m ready to invest time in practical, one-on-one guidance that demystifies how attacks really unfold and, more importantly, how to spot and stop them. My background is purely beginner, yet my responsibilities will soon include supervising an IT/security team, so I need a clear, experience-based understanding of the attacker’s mindset.

Focus areas
• Network security: packet sniffing, basic exploitation, lateral movement, and network-level hardening.
• Social engineering: phishing set-ups, pretexting scenarios, and the defense playbook that counters them.

Learning format
We will work inside pre-configured virtual machines you supply, where you walk me through the build-break-fix cycle: launching a representative attack, detecting it with common tools (Wireshark, Security Onion, Sysinternals, etc.), and then locking the door behind us. I have no interest in creating zero-days—my goal is situational awareness and the confidence to evaluate technical staff.

Desired pace & deliverables
1. A brief syllabus covering hands-on sessions.
2. The VM images (or download links) and a quick-start guide so I can recreate the lab if needed.
3. Session notes or short screen-recordings I can reference later.
4. A final checklist I can use to assess whether my own small office/home systems are genuinely secure.
