Gmail Password Reset Assistance

I can no longer access my Gmail because the password I have on record is being rejected and the standard Google account-recovery flow will not verify me. The only thing I need is a successful password reset that gets me back into the same mailbox with all messages and settings intact.

Here is what has already happened:
• I walked through Google’s recovery form several times, but I was unable to verify my identity. I had not added a backup Gmail address or recovery phone number to the account.
• Two-factor authentication was never turned on, so there is no hardware key or authenticator app to fall back on.
