I am adding a 12' × 40' lean-to porch roof to an existing structure in a 130 MPH wind zone and need a Georgia-licensed Professional Engineer to take full responsibility for the structural design and provide a signed and sealed set of drawings.
Scope
• Structure: wood-framed lean-to roof bearing on the existing wall’s top plate, supported at the outer edge by new piers.
• Foundation: design the pier layout, size, reinforcing, and embedment to satisfy local soil and wind-uplift requirements.
• Drawings: structural only—framing plan, member schedules, connection details, uplift/drag-strap specification, and pier details, all formatted for permit submission.
• Calculations: wind load, gravity, and lateral analysis demonstrating compliance with current Georgia Residential Code (based on the IBC/IRC 2021 wind maps at 130 MPH).
• Deliverable: one PDF set stamped and signed for the State of Georgia, plus the supporting calcs; DWG file is a bonus but not mandatory.
Acceptance
Your stamp must be verifiable through the Georgia PE board, and the jurisdiction should be able to contact you directly if needed. All dimensions and notes must coordinate with the existing building’s top plate elevation that I will supply.
I can provide as-built photos, site measurements, and any additional information you request right away. Let me know your lead time and any questions so we can move forward.
