I am at the formula development stage of a new women-focused post-hair-removal skincare treatment. The product is intended for women who experience ingrown hairs, razor bumps, irritation and the appearance of dark marks following hair removal, particularly on areas such as the face, chin, jawline and neck.
I am looking for an experienced cosmetic chemist to develop an original commercial formula; not a generic private-label formula.
I have an established commercial ingrown-hair treatment that I use as a performance benchmark. I am not looking to duplicate or copy its formula. I want to develop an original formulation that can deliver strong comparable performance while improving the overall user experience.
The desired sensory profile is a lightweight, serum-like liquid with slight viscosity, fast absorption and a comfortable, non-sticky finish. I also want to explore ways to make the product less harsh/drying and more pleasant to use after hair removal.
The formula should be developed specifically with women's skincare needs following hair removal in mind. Effectiveness is the highest priority, followed by skin tolerance, stability and sensory experience.
I am not requiring the formula to be natural, botanical or organic. Ingredient selection should be based on efficacy, safety, compatibility, stability and suitability for the intended use.
I am looking for assistance with:
• Formula development and ingredient selection
• Benchmark-informed formulation/optimization
• Bench samples and physical prototypes
• pH, viscosity and sensory optimization
• Preservation and stability considerations
• Packaging compatibility
• Formula refinement based on testing and feedback
• Development toward a production-ready formula
This is an early-stage project, so I am interested in working in milestones rather than expecting the entire project to be completed at once.
Please provide examples of relevant skincare formulations you have developed, your qualifications/experience, your development process, estimated cost for the initial formulation phase, sample/revision structure, and your terms regarding formula ownership and IP.
I am looking for a long-term formulation partner who can potentially support additional skincare products as the brand grows.
