We are conducting a market research study on the cement industry in Syria and are
looking for a locally based, reliable field researcher to conduct in-depth interviews
(IDIs) with a defined list of respondents across several governorates.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
This is a B2B market intelligence study assessing cement demand, pricing, and trade
dynamics in Syria. Your role is to conduct structured interviews with pre-identified
respondent types, using a questionnaire we will provide, and deliver clean written
notes/recordings for each interview.
WHO WE NEED TO INTERVIEW (approx. 15–20 interviews total)
- Local cement producers (4–5 interviews) — Damascus, Aleppo, Homs corridors
- Cement importers & distributors (7–8 interviews) — Damascus, Aleppo, Latakia/Tartous
- Ready-mix & precast concrete end-users (4–7 interviews) — Damascus, Aleppo
Respondents must be owners, general managers, or procurement/technical decision-makers— not junior staff. We will provide a target contact list and a screening guide;
you will also help identify and recruit qualified respondents where needed.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Recruit and schedule interviews with respondents matching our screening criteria
- Conduct structured interviews Physical, telephone or online (in Arabic) using our provided questionnaire, covering topics such as pricing, payment terms, sourcing, and demand
- Record and/or take detailed written notes for each interview
- Submit a clean write-up per interview (template provided) within 48 hours of each call
- Flag any access, recruitment, or scheduling issues early
REQUIREMENTS
- Based in Syria, with the ability to contact respondents in Damascus, Aleppo, Homs, Latakia, and Tartous
- Fluent in Arabic (spoken and written); working English a plus for reporting
- Prior experience in market research, survey fieldwork, journalism, or a related
field involving structured interviews
- Familiarity with the construction/building materials sector is a strong plus but
not required
- Comfortable working independently and meeting a defined delivery schedule
- Reliable communication (WhatsApp/email) for weekly check-ins
DELIVERABLES
- Completed interview write-ups for all conducted interviews, using our template
- A short recruitment/status log tracking outreach, scheduling, and completion status
- Weekly progress update on interviews completed vs. target
TIMELINE
Fieldwork to be completed within approximately 3–4 weeks of project start.
BUDGET & PAYMENT
Please bid based on a per-completed-interview rate or a fixed project rate for all
~15–20 interviews — let us know which you prefer. Payment released on a rolling basis as verified interview write-ups are submitted, or per milestone as agreed.
